Chapter 11

“An Unexpected Ally”

When the box came off his head, Anston noticed that the piss flask on his desk had been replaced with a beaker. It was filled with the same pink liquid but more of it. Before Dr. Nantucket left him alone, he showed him the Erlenmeyer flask and told him that he’d need it for measuring a special supplement he had wanted to add to the love potion.

“Go ahead,” he said. “Ask me what the new secret ingredient will be.”

Anston was in no mood. He was still in shock over his horrific shower.

“Ask me!” His eyes were bulging and his face was now hot with anger.

“What-what’s the sec-secret ingredient?”

“Love.”

Dr. Nantucket couldn’t resist laughing at his own sick joke.

“Love! Heh heck heh!”

Anston stared at the new glass toilet sitting next to the laptop, his new piss beaker.

His lips began to tremble.

Then he was once again broken from his trance. Dr. Nantucket had swatted him hard in the back of the shoulders with the cardboard box.

“No more fun and games,” he said. “Get my program finished before I think of something else for you to do.”

Anston didn’t respond. He was thinking about the stinging sensation coursing through his wet back.

“What do you say?” Dr. Nantucket demanded.

“What?” Anston had no idea what he wanted now.

Dr. Nantucket hit him with the box again, this time over his head.

“I said, what do you say?”

Anston was trembling all over now.

“I don’t know.”

Dr. Nantucket hit him again with a succession of three.

“Yes, sir,” said Dr. Nantucket. “Say it!”

Anston shook his head.

“What?”

Dr. Nantucket hit him again, this time in the shoulders.

“Say it!”

“Yes, sir!”

Dr. Nantucket was prepared to hit him again, but stopped mid-swing. It didn’t keep Anston from flinching.

“That’s right, you ungrateful turd. Be glad you’ve got a job. Finish my damn program before I decide to make your life a living hell.”

When Dr. Nantucket finally left him alone, Anston began to cry.
